Flick can only connect to professional Instagram accounts. This means Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected. If you’re not sure what type of account you have, it is easily identifiable from Instagram.

  1. Open Instagram and navigate to settings > Account

  2. Click on ‘Switch account type’

There are three possible types of accounts: Personal, Creator, and, Business. The option you don't see you can switch to will be your current account type.

Converting your Instagram account via the mobile App:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and navigate to Settings.

  2. Tap Account.

  3. Tap Switch to Professional/Creator account.

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts, ensuring you select a Facebook Page to link to your Instagram account. You will see a "Don't Connect to Facebook Now" option, but if you don't connect a Facebook Page to your Instagram account, you won't be able to use Direct Scheduling.

  5. If your Instagram Personal Account is currently set to private, you'll be prompted to tap OK in order to confirm switching to a Business Profile, since your account will become public.

  6. Add your contact info and tap Done.

If you see both creator and business available, you will need to switch to one of these professional accounts. You can learn more about what account type is best for you, here.

Reconverting your Instagram Business/Creator Profile

In certain situations, for example, if your Instagram account is currently a Business Profile without a Facebook Page properly connected to it, you will need to convert your Instagram account back to a Personal Account and then reconvert it to a Business Profile. Please follow the steps in this guide to achieve this.

Please note, your Insights will be lost when converting your Instagram account back to a personal profile. You may wish to read and save your Insights before converting.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile.

  2. Head to Settings.

  3. Tap Account, followed by Switch to a personal account, and then tap Switch back to confirm.

  4. Head over to Facebook and navigate to the Page that you would like to be connected to your Instagram Business Profile.

  5. Click Settings at the top of the Page and then click Instagram on the left -hand side.

  6. If there is already an Instagram connected to the Facebook Page, go ahead and disconnect it by clicking Disconnect at the bottom of the screen.

  7. Once you've disconnected the Instagram account (or if there wasn't one already connected), click Connect Account towards the top of the screen.

  8. Enter your Instagram login credentials and click Log In. (If you're already signed into Instagram, or your login credentials are saved within your browser, you'll just need to click Continue.)

  9. You'll see a pop-up window prompting you to set up your Instagram Business Profile. Follow the on-screen instructions, ensuring you enter your contact info, and then tap Done.
